On Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the Appearance Care Seminar for healthcare professionals hosted by the Cancer Center of Ryukyu University Hospital, three students—Mr. Ousuke Sanabe, Ms. Sakurako Ichikawa, and Ms. Kiwa Obuchi—presented the findings of their undergraduate research projects.
Their presentations covered interview results from patients who had experienced appearance changes due to cancer treatment, as well as a study examining factors related to the practice of appearance care and the challenges faced by nurses working in cancer care hospitals in Okinawa Prefecture.
During the seminar, they received a variety of questions and comments from clinical participants, making it an invaluable learning experience for the students. This opportunity also allowed them to share patients’ experiences, their needs toward healthcare providers, and the current state of appearance care with nurses engaged in this field.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Masato Masuda of the Ryukyu University Hospital Cancer Center, Ms. Haru Sunagawa of the Nursing Department Palliative Care Center, and all others involved for providing this opportunity.
